Each year, Shooting Star chooses a local charity to support with pro bono marketing, PR and digital services to help raise their profile and increase awareness of the important work they do. 

Our charity for 2022 is Headway Lincolnshire, an organisation which supports survivors and their families across the county living with a brain injury following a physical assault, a stroke, epilepsy or a life-changing car or sporting accident for example.

To help raise funds for the fantastic work they do, the Shooting Star team is completing a 33 mile bike ride from our office in Lincoln to Headway's HQ in Boston. It's not quite the Tour de France, but it will definitely be a challenge for our team of seasoned office-dwellers!

Any donations, no matter how big or small, are greatly appreciated. Headway Lincolnshire doesn't receive any government funding and all proceeds will help the team to continue their support work. 

The charity also offers free counselling for carers including a support group and social gatherings which deliver the coping skills and strategies that they need to sustain a healthy life and to provide continued care for their loved one. Headway Lincolnshire/UK facts and figures:

• Based in Boston, Headway Lincolnshire works in partnership with specialist health teams, including neuropsychology, neurological outreach teams, rehabilitation consultants, and Ashby Ward at Lincoln County Hospital.   
• Every year in the UK over 40,000 children acquire a brain injury; that’s one child in every classroom. 
• Between 2019 to 2020, there were approximately 977 hospital admissions per day in the UK for acquired brain injuries (ABI), which equates to roughly one every 90 seconds.
• In the same year, Lincolnshire’s hospitals received a total of 4,262 admissions.
