Buddy is asking you all for sponsorship because he’s taking part in a new event for Cancer Research UK on 13 October 2013 - Bark for Life – a 5km walk in the Forest of Dean.

Benjamin and I will be accompanying him........a slightly loopy golden retriever and a toddler who gets over excited at the sight of a single dog, what am I letting myself in for.........but it’s for a cause that is extremely important to us.

Following Phillip’s illness he was tested for hereditary bowel cancers. None were found, but he could have had a type of hereditary cancer we are not yet aware of. Phillip is part of current research to identify other types of bowel cancer. Benjamin will need to be screened for bowel cancer in his twenties. In the next 20 years or so research could provide a breakthrough which means a blood test for Benjamin rather than intrusive investigation, it could mean advances in treatment for those with bowel cancer.
