We fund vital cancer research to save lives in Yorkshire

Story

In December 2013 my Grandma was diagnosed with bowel cancer. When she started to lose her hair through chemotherapy in April and had to get a wig, I wanted to do something to help.

After research showed there was little point donating to adult wigs, because they are largely man made, I found a charity (The Princess Trust) which accept hair donations and those donations are made into a wig for a young cancer sufferer.

Unfortunately my Grandma's chemotherapy was unsuccessful, so there is nothing more the doctors can do for her. This makes me more determined to raise money for cancer research in the hope that people can be diagnosed earlier and that a greater range of treatments are available in the future.

The majority of you who know me will also never have seen me with anything other than long hair before. I have had the same hairstyle since I was 13, so nearly 20 years. It has only ever been short twice in my life, and never shorter than a bob (obvioulsy apart from when I was a baby). My hair means an awful lot to me and I am increasingly nervous about chopping it all off. So I am asking for sponsorship, with all the money donated going to Yorkshire Cancer Research and my hair going to The Princess Trust.
