Wear A Hat Day is one of the UK's biggest and most important brain tumour research fundraising and awareness-raising days.

Story

Let me introduce you to ‘The two C’s by the sea, wearing hats for charity’.

Charlie Gwillim and Charlotte Reid are two beautiful young ladies That are living with brain tumours.

A year ago, Charlie, 28, was successfully running her own business, Devon Embroidery, when a visit to the opticians showed ‘something’ was crushing her optic nerve.  Within 3 days Charlie was in Derriford having her cancerous, incurable anaplastic astrocytoma operated on.  While we were fundraising last year for Wear A Hat Day, Charlie was having radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Charlotte Reid was diagnosed 5 years ago and battles daily with life limiting side effects from her craniopharyngioma tumour and treatment. Her treatment was Proton radiotherapy in America.

The overwhelming response of Wear A-Hat Day last year was amazing and we would love to continue raising awareness and money for Brain Tumour Research again.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
