Welbodi Partnership is working to improve child and maternal health in Sierra Leone, where 1 in 10 children dies before their 5th birthday and maternal death rates are some of the highest in the world. Since 2008 Welbodi has been working in Sierra Leone to address these challenges.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We want raise money to fund chemotherapy for children in Sierra Leone and to support training for the nurses and doctors to deliver the chemotherapy safely.

Although children are dying for many reasons, some cancers will respond very quickly to low dose chemotherapy and can be cured. There is a long way to go to develop a full service but many children can be helped as this service is developing.

We are supporting the care of children with cancer.  This includes making the diagnosis, giving chemotherapy and surgery, and supporting palliative care where curative treatment is not possible.  The children are treated at Ola During Children's Hospital in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone.  Ola During Children's Hospital is the only designated government children's hospital in Sierra Leone.
