Cycle to the Caribbean · 1 November 2021

SIFT is a Christian charity, committed to transforming the lives of the poor in Nicaragua. SIFT's projects include sponsoring children for education, supporting an orphanage, providing healthcare to local communities and building a new community for people facing eviction from their island homes.

Story

My sponsored challenge this autumn is a virtual cycle ride across Nicaragua, from its north-western corner on the Gulf of Fonseca to the city of Bluefields on the Caribbean coast - a total of 600km (372 miles).

I'll be on my exercise bike for two hours each day, starting on November 1st. If you want to see how the ride's going you can visit my route map (https://sift-virtual-cycle.netlify.app), where you can track my progress in real time.

I'm doing this challenge to raise money to support SIFT's amazing health clinics in Nicaragua. Every week Dr Sandra and her team of nurses bring everyday healthcare to rural communities on Ometepe.   It's the kind of health service that we value here in the UK, and it really makes a difference to the lives of the poor. You can browse my photo gallery by clicking on the image above to see Dr Sandra and her team in action.

I'm hoping to raise at least £2,000 through this challenge, which will provide free medicines for two months for everyone who comes to our clinics.
