On the weekend of 14th and 15th October, 2017  4 generations of our family will fall silent for 24 hours. 

Why are we doing this? Please read on........

Edna Hopkins was our much loved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affected by MND in 2009 and of all the symptoms she experienced losing her ability to talk was the hardest. Previously a sociable chatterbox who loved to spend time with friends and family, not being able to communicate freely came as a real blow. Without the ability to speak she felt very isolated.

Many people with MND experience the same loss of voice and separation from others. There are ways to help however but funds and research are needed to make these even more successful and available to all who need them.

Four generations of our family are falling silent for 24 hours (well the little children may do a  bit less!)  on the weekend of Edna's birthday to both remember her and to offer support and hope to others affected by MND.
