Lifelites No Tech Day Challenge · 28 March 2021 ·

Lifelites passionately believes in a world of inclusion, fun and happiness for every child and young person with a life-limiting condition. Through the power of innovative sensory and assistive technology, we enable children to play, create and communicate with the people they love.

Story

Well, I certainly found that more of a challenge than I had imagined! All day long it felt like something was missing.  I realise just how often we use our phones as universal instant encyclopedias in this house: looking up unknown words we've read in a book or recipes, exploring a historical or political point we may be discussing or pin-pointing where somewhere is on a map. My husband joined in the challenge and forewent watching England's third ODI cricket versus India and the first Grand Prix of the season - such dedication to the cause!

We survived in the end though and it was quite an eventful day. I read most of 'The Colour Purple' inbetween browsing a gardening catalogue, some spring time gardening,  cleaning, a neighbour knocking on the door to check we were coping, another neighbour invited me to view frogs in his garden pond, I made a late roast dinner and we went for a hitherto unheard of post-dinner walk at dusk.

And we've raised quite a lot for the work of Lifelites into the bargain. Thanks so much to everyone who sponsored us!

When we woke up this morning, my husband said:"Shall we have another No Tech Day today?" Well, maybe not. Perhaps we'll leave it a year...
