First climbed in 1923, Velindre offer their latest overseas trek, the 100th Anniversary climb of North Africas highest peak, Mount Toubkal. Located in southwestern Morocco, Mt.Toubkal is the tallest peak in the Atlas Mountains standing at 13,671ft.

Story

6 years ago my wife Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer after her first scheduled mammogram.  She received the best care possible from the Velindre Cancer Centre and as a family we take every chance to give back, and to raise money for this amazing charity.

In October 2023, Jake and I will take on our third, and toughest, fundraising trek so far and we’d love your support.

Exactly 100 years after it was first climbed we will be part of a group of 50 trekkers attempting to summit Mount Toubkal. Located in southwestern Morocco, Mount Toubkal is the tallest peak in the Atlas Mountains standing at 4,167 metres (13,671 ft) high.

This trek requires a very high level of physical fitness. We will be walking for long periods, with extremes of temperatures and a huge variety of terrain, some rocky steps, with big ascents and descents. This will be a tough, physical, and mental challenge, but this is nothing compared to the challenges that cancer patients face each day.I've committed to raising at least £5,000 for Velindre Cancer Centre, the Hospital of Hope that cares, supports and treats over 130,000 patients each year.
