Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am 67 years old (for some reason people want to know how old you are!) and been a Christian since 1975. I worship at Monmouth Baptist Church.
My wife (Fiona) and I have been interested in the plight of persecuted suffering Christians for probably 30+ years.
Millions of Christians are persecuted every year, ranging from intimidation to false accusations, false charges, beatings, imprisonment, torture and death. And it is increasing year on year. Whilst we in the West enjoy relative safety, warm homes, plenty of food, more than sufficient money, millions of Christians lack these things. As the apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 12:12-26, we are all members of the same Body of Christ and if one member suffers, all the members suffer. And as Richard Wurmbrand said in his book Tortured for Christ, "When I was beaten on the bottom of my feet, my tongue cried. Why did my tongue cry? My tongue wasn't beaten. It cried because the tongue and feet are both part of the same body. And you free Christians are part of the same Body of Christ that is now beaten in prisons in restricted nations , that even now gives martyrs for Christ. Can you not feel our pain."
So Release International have organised this sponsored ride from North Forland Point in Kent to Lands End, riding inland, and returning to North Forland Point by cycling along the coast. It's a total of 950 miles approx, starting May 14th through to June 25th. We will speak at churches along the way and they will host us weary cyclists as well as giving the opportunity to speak on the plight of persecuted suffering Christians.
