Story

UPDATE - Thanks SO much to everyone who's donated so generously. Reached the £1500 target in less than 24 hours. Please don't let that put you off donating if you're still considering it though! I may have my Get-out-of-jail card, but any spare shekels will still make a huge difference, so I've raised the target to £2k...

On Thursday 13th February, 12 of us will be sentenced at the Old Magistrates' Court and transported up to La Moye Prison to begin 24 hours of incarceration. We'll be handcuffed, fingerprinted and inducted into life on the wing, and only released the following day if we've reached our fundraising target!

As you probably know, the Shelter Trust provides accommodation, food, support and encouragement to around 100 people every night in Jersey. Most of us live such comfortable lives in Jersey (especially compared to the people Jersey Overseas Aid targets) that it’s easy to forget there are people here who desperately need charitable assistance too. Shelter relies on donations – as well as its fantastic volunteers – and our incarceration is aimed at raising some money for the organisation and casting a bit of light on the issue.

I know the temptation will be to keep me there, but given the excellence of the cause I implore you to dig deep to help get me out!
