Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In 2020, my family’s life was turned upside down.

Having suffered a functional stroke in November 2019, my wife Natalie was just returning to work in April 2020 when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. This coincided with  the first Covid-19 lockdown in the UK, which meant that the usual pathways and support for treatment were just not available.

Natalie had to deal with much of the medical diagnosis, treatment and follow-up alone, as none of our family could be in appointments with her. I am sure you understand that this made a frightening situation so much harder both for her, and also for our daughter Martha. The physical, mental and emotional trauma on our whole family was significant.

CancerCare is a local charity in South Cumbria and North Lancashire that has been able to provide incredible support to us all, and they are continuing to help both Natalie and Martha to come to terms with our family crisis. This is just one way that I can repay some of their incredible support over the past year. 

I am aiming to cycle as many miles as possible to support the Wheels Around the World fundraiser for CancerCare. My initial target was a modest 250 miles, as I am also experiencing poor health at the moment, but I hope to raise £1 per mile.... and if I can suffer a bit more, maybe I can go beyond that with your support!  I am now hoping to reach 500 miles before the 17th May. If you want to know more about the fabulous work that CancerCare do, here is their website: https://www.cancercare.org.uk.
