Many Hertfordshire residents will be facing a winter like no other. We are appealing for donations to make sure that no one suffers from isolation, hunger or struggles to heat their homes this winter.

Story

‘Tomorrow at Norton Gym , Welwyn Garden City , i will be  giving up my Boxing Day and spending the entire opening hours of the gym from opening to closing time on the treadmill to try help raise money for the Hertfordshire Homeless’

What a busy year with work it’s been for me , i’ve been lucky , i’ve been blessed to have a job and to have been able to pay my bills and put food on the table . Before i knew it the year is over and i’m here now sitting down relaxing on my Christmas break from work . i work throughout the year and go to the gym every evening . My spare time is all my mine to do as i please , and so it dawned on me there is so many people out there that are struggling and have no food , shelter or family even. It’s a struggle for many this time of year . And for some reason today i thought i don’t ever do anything really to help or give back when i have every ability to do so .

So i’m sitting here on Christmas day , roof over my head and food on my table. And it dawned on me that although i personally don’t particularly like christmas, and for many years i’ve felt isolated and not enjoyed  the christmas experience, in perspective i have more than some people will ever dream to have. And for that i’m truly grateful. Many in hertfordshire are suffering this winter more than ever , especially with the pandemic effecting peoples ability to afford the ever increasing cost of living meaning homelessness and poverty in herts is on the increase.

A friend of mine mentioned to me last week about doing something like this for charity and i ‘thought about it’ . Well i’ve decided to put that thought into action.

So i am raising money for Hertfordshire Community Foundation's Winter Poverty Appeal. It is a lifeline to local families, the homeless and vulnerable elderly residents and will provide vital grants to cover fuel and food costs, activities to reduce loneliness and isolation and support to help those in need to access specialist services and community groups. If you are in the position to do so, please make a donation.
