'Ello Baldy! Charlie and Simon shave their heads. · 18 December 2016
February 2017 sees the 5th anniversary of my step-dad's (Simon Edwards) diagnosis of Myelofibrosis. This disease is a rare form of blood cancer which progresses over time and results in treatment in the form of a bone marrow transplant. Until recently, the effects of this disease weren't a large burden in Simon's life, but now he is feeling the strain on his body caused by this cruel disease.
Simon suffers from bone pain and extreme fatigue amongst other symptoms, he has had to give up riding his beloved motorbike due to problems gripping the handle bars and can no longer play for his football team. Despite this, both he and our family remain positive and Simon and I are fundraising for the Anthony Nolan Trust (visit here for more info; https://www.anthonynolan.org/). We're both going to shave our heads to raise funds for this fantastic charity who raise awareness of blood cancers, bone marrow and stem cell donation, as well as helping to recruit people to the register and assist in tracking down matches for people requiring them.
We would be grateful for any donations to this worthy cause, thanks for reading
