A few weeks ago and for reasons I can't quite work out now, I entered the Great East Swim. Thus on 22nd June 2013 I will be braving alligators, mermaids, schools of piranha and Somalian pirates as I attempt to circumnavigate unknown waters in the East.

Ok, its only a mile round a reservoir in Ipswich, but just getting the wetsuit on will be an achievement. Open water swimming is something I never really fancied but its too late to drop out now.

Anyway, while I'm doing it I thought I might as well raise a few pennies for a good cause. Some of you will know a little mate of mine, Elliott Williams. Elliott is a great lad and he attends  the Kingsley School In Kettering, which is a community special school comprising 104 places for children aged 3 to 11 years with a wide and diverse range of special educational needs.

Children may have moderate, severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties as well as additional needs such as physical difficulties, medical conditions, sensory impairment, speech and language difficulties and autism.

It does great work with loads of children, and makes a real difference to their lives.

Any sponsorship you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
