Story
Hello there!
In June, my brother Alex and I will be running in the City of Norwich Half Marathon and thought I would try and raise a bit of money to support a public service that has always been incredibly dear to me.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, society has admired the essential work done throughout the NHS at every level. In 2011, I received life-altering major corrective surgery, which straightened my spinal cord (which was displaced by 61 degrees) and changed my life in so many ways. I received the best care from the most dedicated nurses, surgeons and specialists day and night, seven days a week. I wonder most days what state I’d be in had I been denied this surgery? I know that life up to now would have been entirely different anyway.
The money raised will go towards the Norfolk & Norwich Hospitals Charity. The Norfolk and Norwich Hospitals Charity’s main aim is to enhance the well-being of patients, visitors, and staff at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Cromer and District Hospital. While the NHS takes care of the basics, the charity funds initiatives that improve the hospital experience for patients, visitors, and staff.
I know that many people are experiencing challenging and precarious circumstances during these times, so a donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated! I aim to reach £300 by June 13th.
All my love and thanks for reading,
Simon
