On November 10th myself and a small group of people will be trekking 50km across the Sahara Desert to raise money for The Hospice of St Francis.
We will be flying to Marrakech then driving 9 hours, crossing the Atlas Mountains arriving in the desert late on. We will be welcomed by the rest of the trek team and the camels before commencing our trek into the vast and arid Sahara Desert where we will be sleeping under the stars, Temperatures will range from 0°c at night then up to 40°c during the day.
the team will then trek up to 8 hours a day over hard, flat sundried plains, dried up ancient river beds, wide sandy dune fields and hard rocky outcrops arriving in the Village of Oulad Driss where we bid farewell to the trek team 5 days later.
After a good nights sleep we then spend 2 more days assisting a local community project before heading back to the UK.
The Hospice Of St Francis is an amazing charity that provides free, expert care for people living with life-limiting illnesses in West Herts and South Bucks regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or socio-economic background so please give generously and any donations will be greatly received.
Many thanks
Simon
