Southern Area Hospice Services care for patients and their families living primarily in the Southern Trust area, offering specialist palliative and end of life care. The main aim of the hospice is to help patients who have received a palliative diagnosis live well with their condition.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you will know our father passed away last August in Newry hospice. He endured a short but tough 4 month battle with cancer. As a family we did our best to care for him at home as his condition worsened. It wasn't until he went into the hospice that we realised the level of care he needed. Our Dad, like every other patient that has been in the hospice recieved world class care from a highly skilled, compassionate but underfunded facility. Unfortunately too many families in our area have had to use this service and will do in the future. The hospice needs £7,123 a day to care for patients and support their families. It is only because of the fundraising and generosity of other families that our Dad was able to avail of this wonderful facility. We are holding a golf classic in Warrenpoint golf club on Friday 3rd May in his memory to raise money for the southern area hospice so someone else can receive the level of care he did. If you are unable to make it on the day or would like to donate to this fantastic facility any amount would be greatly appreciated. Don't forget to tick gift aid when donating, Thank you all very much
