Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hello,

Thanks for visiting my fundraising site.

I decided to commite to the London to Paris cycling event following a presentation night at Trinity Hospice.  I had received an invite by post while I was on holiday and decided to attend the meeting. If I'm totally honest I expected to just  listen to the presentation and nibble on any free cheese that was on hand.

Anyway, I attended the presentation and was drawn in to attempting the challenge by seeing how  Brian House works; I was really impressed how they care for the children and also how they support families along the way. The dedicated staff ensure that there is every opportunity for the children to enjoy their time at Brian House as much as possible.

I signed up for the challenge,  knowing full well my fitness levels were/are not even close :)

Before the presentation I think my naive view was that  Brian House would be very clinical, far from it. The  colour schemes for each room are vibrant, there are endless sensory devices and lighting to help stimulate and enable everyone to join in. The bedrooms are all uniquely decorated to give a "home from home feeling" and there are living rooms, a craft and  play areas plus and an outside play area all  really well planned and also well kitted out.

This service costs money £1.2m per year to run Brian House.

The sponsorship raised from this event ( First ever overseas  cycle challenge for Brian House) helps with :

**£500 provides 8 counselling sessions for recently bereaved adult or child

**£1500 provides a weekend 's respite care for a child to give a family a needed break

***£3436.08 will pay for a day's care in Brian House.

I'm aiming to raise £1000 but hope to get as much as possible, I have decided to self fund so all sponsorship will go to Brian House.

To aid with the training I have signed up to do the Notts one hundred in June. I will also be doing the trinity Manchester to Blackpool and the windmill ride as part of my training programme.

Thank you all for reading my story and thanks for any sponsorship:)

PS will try and give a weekly update on training and fundraising as I go on.....

Thanks again  Simon
