Melanoma UK is a registered charity established in 2012, focused on raising awareness of melanoma (a form of skin cancer) and supporting those affected by it. The charity works to increase prevention through education and provide support to those working in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Story

This Sunday (24th June) we are setting off on a 1,200 mile bike ride to Siena in Tuscany.  We will be in the saddle for a total of 22 days (plus a few rest days) and our route though France, Switzerland and Italy crosses 3 mountain ranges; the Jura, the Alps and the Apennines with a total climb of 60,000 ft (Everest is only 29,000 ft)!
Just to make it more fun, Will wants to camp so we are taking a very small (and light) tent and all the gear (not so light).

It really would be fantastic if we could raise some sponsorship as part of the ride for Melanoma UK. This charity does amazing work supporting patients with skin cancer and promoting research and new treatments. This cause is close to our hearts as Frances ( Simon's sister and William's Aunt) passed away a few years ago as a result of this awful illness. Skin cancer rates in the UK have surged over the last 20 years and Melanoma UK is a relatively new charity set up in response to the lack of treatments and support which have have been available.
