Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The main ‘trigger ’ for youth homelessness is a breakdown between a child and their parents or step-parents, Young homeless people have often experienced disruption during childhood and often have been from backgrounds where they have had the benefit of secure or consistent relationships with their parents. Research also has found that young homeless people have much poorer health than other young people they often experience depression, mental health and substance misuse problems.
Because of all these factors it is especially difficult for young people who have experienced homelessness to keep up with their education or to find and keep a job. Most of us will remember the support we had from our families when we started our first job or went on to higher education, for many young people they do not have emotional or financial support from their families. I am running for a local trust fund which makes available small grants to young people who are homeless to buy tools or equipment when they first enter work, training, or, developing a talent in sport or the creative arts. Examples of Circumstances where grants will be considered ü Special circumstances ü Driving Licence (if in line for a job) ü College equipment- ü Where a Young Person has shown achievement and requires equipment or funds to take the achievement further. For example being selected to represent a team and needing clothes, overnight bag, dance shoes or musical instrument. Thank you for sponsoring me to run the London Marathon.
