Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital is one of the UK's leading specialist hospitals for the care of people with heart and lung diseases. With your help we are able to purchase vital equipment, fund innovative research and provide additional amenities for our patients and their families.

Story

In 2010 my family was faced with the devastating prospect of
losing its patriarch. My dad, Edwin, suffered what we all thought was a massive
heart attack at work. He collapsed after saying he wasn’t feeling well and
needed CPR to bring him back. He was rushed to A&E where it was discovered
he had an aortic aneurysm; a bulge in the main blood vessel running from the
heart. He was transferred to the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.

It was here that my dad’s life was saved by the expert
surgeons whom had made us aware that his chance of survival from this condition
was less than 50%. My dad has always been an energetic, active man, who looked
after himself and didn’t drink or smoke which made this diagnosis all the more
upsetting.

Thanks to the amazing work of the Liverpool Heart and Chest
Hospital, who continue to monitor dad’s progress to this day, he has been
around to continue to show enduring love for his wife and children, whilst
demonstrating what it means to be an extraordinary grandad to his four
grandchildren none of whom would know him without the phenomenal staff at the
Liverpool Heart and Chest.
