EVENT-    GREAT NORTH RUN    "the most iconic half marathon on the planet!"

Running in Aid of RNID

 

I'm going to run, run, run like the WIND!!        or a stiff breeze.

 

and why?...

1. I've always wanted to run the Great North Run in particular, it's the biggest half Marathon in the WORLD!

2.The belly needs to GO!!

3. And most importantly,  as music is a very important part of my life (and to most of the people i know) this is a good opportunity to raise money for a good and often over looked charity. 

 

THE CHARITY.  RNID - Royal National Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

The money I raise will go towards RNID's work in:

- preventing hearing loss and funding the search for a cure

- persuading people  to take action to have their hearing tested

- providing practical help and support to people who are deaf or hard of hearing

Just a few famous people with deafness or tinnitus;

Pete Townshend - "I have severe hearing damage. It's manifested itself as tinnitus, ringing in the ears at frequencies that I play guitar. It hurts, it's painful, and it's frustrating." Townshend is completely deaf in one ear from an explosion when Keith Moon blew up his drum set live on stage in the early 1960's and loud amps.

Steve Martin - musician (banjo player), actor, comedian. He acquired Tinnitus while filming a pistol-shooting scene in "Three Amigos!" in 1986.

Brian Wilson - deaf in one ear from when his father hit him in the head with a board at an early age.
