Story

grit
[gr-it] noun
to have the drive, stamina and determination to push through any challenge, obstacle or drunken promise thrown in your way until you succeed.

'I am a light eater. As soon as it gets light, I start eating.'  Jeremy Duncan.

'I sweat glitter.'  Simon Miller

Can these two Chumps really be Champs?  They know that pain is weakness leaving their bodies. They know that to suffer is to succeed. They have perfected their thousand-yard stares.

Simon and Jerry are digging deep for Access Sport by running the Royal Borough of Kingston Half Marathon on Sunday 23rd October. It's to help the charity in its work to combat the shocking levels of exclusion, hardship and poor health faced by millions of disadvantaged and disabled children in the UK.

Please get behind them by digging deep too. Your sponsorship will be a huge motivator.

Why what they're doing matters....

Right now there are significant barriers preventing many children and young people from being physically active. Research shows that: Disabled people are twice as likely to be inactive as non-disabled people. Children & young people from the least affluent families are the least likely to be active. Children & young people from ethnically diverse communities are the least likely to be active. By the age of 16 or 17, 64% of girls will have quit sport. Less than half of all children and young people are meeting the Chief Medical Officer guidelines of taking part in sport and physical activity for an average of 60 minutes or more a day. We are taking on a challenge to help Access Sport change this. With the help of fundraisers Access Sport are scaling up to support more young people than ever before and give the life-changing benefits of sport and physical activity to 15,000 disabled and disadvantaged young people.
