Story
I had a stroke when I was 35 weeks pregnant, in August 2011. Fortunately, my husband Simon was there when it happened and he acted fast. Within hours, I was on the operating table having a stent directed into my brain to open up the collapsed artery. Words can’t describe the gratitude we feel towards the NHS staff who treated and cared for me. The speed and type of treatment I received led me to make a full, rapid recovery and our baby Finlay was entirely unharmed.
The Stroke Association helps those people who are not left unharmed by stroke, people who are left with long-term, physical and emotional difficulties. It helps research the causes of stroke - which strikes out of the blue - and raises awareness of the disease so that when it does strike, people around you may recognise the signs and save your life, too.
When I was discharged from hospital, Simon vowed to raise money in aid of stroke victims. This is our first charity event for the cause and we will be running, biking and kayaking 105 miles across Scotland on the weekend of Finlay’s 1 birthday - 15 and 16 September 2012. Click here for more info!
Time is short ‘til the event….please take a moment now to help us reach our optimistic sponsorship goal and give generously J
Thank you so much.
