Virtual Great North Run 2020 · 13 September 2020 ·

Ferriers Barn provides day opportunities in the form of art and crafts for adults with disabilities based in Bures. We are a safe fun space where people make new friends and learn new skills. We arrange fun trips out and in house entertainment. We provide much needed respite for families and carers.

Story

I am running my first half-marathon in memory of my good friend and running inspiration, John Buckle, who very sadly passed away recently.

I can't think of a more worthy cause than Ferriers Barn, a place John loved and devoted himself to since he retired.

The Great North Run this year is a virtual event - runners will all start at the same time on Sunday 13th September, and can run any course they like, as long as they cover the distance (21.1km). My plan is to run two laps of an 11km circuit taking in Sudbury, Great Cornard and Rodbridge Corner.

I only started running in November 2019, with Couch to 5K, and I've been building up since then - with a longest run (so far) of 16K. Knowing I'm doing this for John and a cause he cared about will get me round!
