Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My greatest achievement: Ironman Bolton july 2012. Why? Because I won a slot in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii!
Finishing alone was an amazing feeling but knowing I have the opportunity to compete in the worlds toughest and hardest yet liberating event is incredible. The hours spent swimming, cycling and running day in day out had finally paid off and i could not be happier. I only wish i had raised money towards a charity as many did, I would love to race my next race for a charity I truly believe in.
The reason I want to raise money for my chosen charity Alzheimer's society is because my Grandad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and passed away 2 years ago after suffering with the disease for years. Not only does dementia effect those who suffer with it but its a cruel disease for their loved ones to watch. The person you know so well slowly disappear before you. I would love to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's, this is a charity close to my heart and any contributes anyone can make would be hugely appreciated.
Ironman is an event you dont take light hearted, your rather 100% in or not at all. A lot of hard work, sweat, tears and tantrums have gone into the last year to prepare and get ready for such an event and yet its so close!! This means a lot to me, and I'm willing to give it everything I have got and its gonna hurt.
But without doubt it will be the next greatest achievement I could ever of hoped for. Some of the donations will be used to help fund for my entry fee to help achieve this and again raise (hopefully) a lot of money for Alzheimer's society.
