In memory of Simon

26/06/21
Today would have been Simons 50th birthday and in true style to coincide with what would have been Glastonbury it’s raining. We talked many times about how we would celebrate his 50th but it just wasn’t meant to be I speak for all when I say losing Si has left a massive void in our life and hearts. You are and will always be an exceptional man to me.
Love Sarah xx

1 year today and still feels surreal to be writing this but I can’t change losing Si but what I and all of us can change is showing support to Marie Curie. If I can ask everyone no matter how big or small the donation that you support Marie Curie even if all of Simons friends gave just a £1 that would be amazing No matter who you are or where you are you will have been touched by cancer.

How do I even begin....... the Simon and Sarah story.... dear friends until the end... . it’s hard to believe I am actually writing this. As you know Simon passed away a week today and still it doesn’t seem real. We bought our lovely home 2 years ago and began what we thought was the rest of our lives together. Unfortunately that was not to be and sadly after 8 weeks being in our new home Simon was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Simon underwent surgery and made a miraculous recovery and was straight back to work but unfortunately we were given the news in February that it had returned and sadly it was terminal. Despite this devastating news Simon still got up each day and went to work until it was too much for him. It was Simons wish he remain at home well I say home it’s more the garage (we all know how much Simon loved his man cave)
For the last two weeks of Simons life I nursed him at home with the help of his loving family and friends around him and clinical support from St Benedicts Palliative Nursing Team, District Nursing Team and Marie Curie.
Without the help of each and everyone Simon would not have been able remain at home. Whilst there are too many individuals to name and all were invaluable from a carer point of view the Marie Curie night sitting service was invaluable They provided nursing support throughout the night from 10pm to 7am which helped me to rest and that is why we have chosen Marie Curie.
Many thanks Sarah
