Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·

Norwood supports and empowers neurodiverse children, their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives.

Story

Well, I made it across the finish line in 13,564th place (out of a total field of 35,044 - which included a giant waffle, giant nurse, 6 masai warriors, a page 3 model, a 92 year old and Batman & Robin), with a time of 4:08:06.

The 6 month's of hard work on the streets of South Manchester certainly paid off, though it didn't prepare me for the final 6 miles as the only thing that get's you through this is sheer determination, will power and incredible support from the crowd.

Despite the post race aches and pains, it was worth it to experience the atmsophere of the FLM and the incredible feeling of joy and accomplishment when I finally crossed the finishing line 26 miles and 385 yrds after setting off in Greenwich park, and thankfully in extremely fine health.

Most importantly, thank you very much for your kind donation. With your help I have so far raised over £1,100 for Norwood, and this would not have been possible without your generosity.
Thanks
Simon
