Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Silas Pullen, a pupil at my school, died last year on December 29th from a malignant brain tumour.

First diagnosed in August 2012, Silas underwent intense treatment including chemotherapy and many blood transfusions. Throughout that time he never gave in or lost his wicked sense of humour and came into school as often as he could to be with his friends.

The song 'I Will Walk 500 Miles' by The Proclaimers was one of Silas' favourites and so I have decided to run 500 miles this summer to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity. This equates to 5.43 miles every day for 92 days (June 1st - August 31st).

Brain tumours are the most common malignancy and cause of cancer death in children. They kill more people under the age of 40 than any other cancer. 16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year in the UK yet only 0.7% of cancer funding goes into brain tumour research.

I want to raise at least four times as much as miles run! Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and for your support.
