Story
Welcome to the 40th Anniversary Swimathon!Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd March 2026 at 450+ pools across the UK
After a few years away from Swimathon, I’ve decided it’s time to get back in the water and take on the 5k Challenge again. I’ve done this distance before, even taking part in the very first and took part Triple 5k challenge.
This year comes with a bit of a twist, or more accurately a wonky wrist. I’m having wrist surgery just a few weeks before the event, with a recovery window anywhere between two and six weeks. And my Swimathon date is… the 21st of March. Excellent timing on my part.
So yes, this year’s 5k might involve a lot more leg‑kicking than usual. It’s fine though, arms for swimming are overrated.
Whether I’m fully recovered, partially recovered, or turning up with one very confused wrist, I’m looking forward to taking part and supporting the brilliant charities Swimathon raises money for. They do genuinely important work, and being part of this event on its 40th anniversary feels a bit special.
If you’re able to donate, it would be hugely appreciated. Every contribution helps these charities continue the support they provide to so many people.
Thanks for backing me — and wish my wrist luck.
