As many of you know, it was my privilege to have been Master of the Skinners Company for the past year. I have now decided to follow up by running in the Royal Parks Half marathon in October to raise money for the Skinners Education Foundation (SEF).

This charity provides support and services to a family of schools across London and the Southeast, helping over 7,500 pupils from some of the most disadvantaged communities in the country.

The SEF does this by providing grant-funding to ensure each student has the chance to make the most of the opportunities available at their school. The Foundation provides leadership, support and professional development opportunities for teachers to ensure the best possible education.

During my year as Master, I have had the privilege of visiting many of the Skinners' schools. Time and again, I have been inspired — and often moved to tears — by the dedication of the staff and the potential and resilience of the pupils. These experiences have deepened my commitment to helping provide meaningful educational opportunities for all.

This is the first time I have ever run anywhere ! so please help me raise some money for this great cause - however small, every donation will make a difference.
