On 1st January 2024, our family faced a massive loss. My poi (aunt) who was caring, cheerful and had a warm hearted soul sadly passed away at the age of 46 after battling a range of medical conditions and Lupus was one of the causes that claimed her life far too soon. After battling with this for 20 years, she still remained optimistic, brave and always kept smiling.

Lupus is an unpredictable auto-immune disease which attacks healthy tissues in the body instead of fighting infection.Millions of people are affected due to this condition. The diagnosis time for Lupus can take a lot longer due to the lack of awareness and funding into research for this condition.

For this reason, we have embarked on a journey to raise awareness and support those battling Lupus. I will be completing the Peak District Ultra Challenge in July 2024 along with family members to honour poi’s memory. Through this fundraiser, we aim to shed light on the challenges faced by those affected. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will contribute into making a difference in the fight against Lupus. Your generosity will help fund research for better treatments and spread awareness to promote early detection and diagnosis.
