Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 18th October Mark Lally, David Tipping and myself will be cycling 100 of Edinburgh's most beautiful, interesting or otherwise non dead-end streets.

Why, well mostly because Colin Leslie asked us nicely, but also because it's to raise money for a very good cause indeed. Mental health.

I'll post a wee bit about Support In Mind Scotland and their 100 streets challenge at the end.

Soon I'll post a link tae a justgiving page where you can pledge money to support this great cause.

All Dave, Mark and I are asking is you pledge 1p a street, so a measly wee quid for our efforts. HOWEVER...

To spice things up a wee bit, if you pledge 10p a street (£10.00 total) you can pick any Street in the city and it will be added tae our route.

We won't criticise anyone who wants tae pledge even more BTW.

Being masochists and wanting tae raise a right good few quid, we'd encourage ye all tae go for the tenner job and send us all over this fair city...

If anyone else wants tae get on their bike for a money raising tour of the city, please do. If you want tae, but aren't too confident, I can arrange some free cycle training for you before hand.

Mental health is important to us all. Each year, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health issue and 1 in 100 will suffer from a serious mental illness. Keeping physically active can play a key role in improving mental wellbeing and some of the great ways to do so include walking, running, cycling or jogging. There’s plenty to discover beyond your doorstep.
Scotland and British Lions rugby great Scott Hastings led a successful pilot campaign in 2016.

Joggers, walkers and cyclists across Scotland took part, and Scott - a charity ambassador for Support in Mind Scotland - is backing the campaign again in 2017.
The aim of the campaign is to raise mental health awareness, raise funds for Support in Mind Scotland’s mental health services and to promote good physical and mental health.

WHAT DOES THE CHALLENGE INVOLVE?
*Exercising by running, walking or cycling can help to release those all-important endorphins, relieve stress and clear your head.

*Take on the 100 Streets Challenge on your own, with a friend, or as part of a group.
*Be creative and use your imagination when creating your own route.

Typically, we find the distance works out between 6 and 9 miles.
* It’s not a race. It’s all about having fun and helping yourself to feel well.

Maybe stop for a cuppa, a chat and a well-deserved cake along the way.
* Taking part is absolutely free, but any money you raise through donations and sponsorship will help deliver vital mental health services in Scotland.

*Don’t be shy! Tell us how you got on: share your efforts, pictures and stories on social media.
So get on your trainers or cycling helmet and start your fitness one street at a time.
