Sindhu's Fundraising Walk

Fundraising Walk · 14 June 2021
My name is Sindhu Dahad and this year, on 20th July, my family and friends will be commemorating the 8th anniversary of the death of my husband, Shiva Dahad. Shiva was a dialysis patient at Lister Hospital in Stevenage for almost 3 years.
The Lister Area Kidney Patients Association is a small volunteer-run charity that supports patients across Herts & Beds, to help improve their lives. Additonally, LAKPA supports renal consultants with equipment that they may need and has helped individual patients who have been affected by the pandemic or by family emergencies. The charity has provided start up finance for the renal support team in developing services such as the peer support programme and the benefits adviser amongst others.
I would normally hold a fundraiser in person, but due to the pandemic I am instead walking 100km to raise money for LAKPA. Although I became an octogenerian this year, I began this challenge at the beginning of June and I am hoping to reach my target of 100km before the anniversary of my husband's death.
