We support treatment, research and care to make our hospitals even better

Story

Maeve has been a patient at The Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital since she was a baby. She was diagnosed with a rare condition called Cystinosis which causes an accumulation of crystals in her organs. Currently her kidneys are eyes are the most affected, and she has to take a 24 hr daily regime of medications via her gastrostomy tube and she has to have eye drops every hour. The prognosis of this condition, means that Maeve will need to undergo kidney transplant in the future. Maeve also has physical health problems as well and experiences daily musculo-skeletal discomfort and walking any distance can be exhausting and uncomfortable for her.

We are doing this walk to support this amazing hospital and to give something back for all they've done and are continuing to do for us. Maeve wants to do this walk and although 4kms isn't a long walk, its a very personal challenge for Maeve. We hope that you can spare a £1 just to support us on our Lantern Walk on November 17th !! xx
