In February of this year, our dad, Zvi Doron, passed away following a short battle with cancer aged just 59.
Zvi was an exceptional man. Striking, intelligent and unfailingly interested in the world around him, one of Zvi's many talents was playing the guitar.
He loved to write his own music and religiously attended the open mic night at The Bull Inn in Newick, where he loved to play with the band and showcase his songs.
To honour his memory, we have organised an open mic night at The Bull Inn to raise money for the Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge on Tuesday 2nd July from 8pm.
When our dad started to decline, it was a very frightening time for all of us. He had moved in with me (his daughter, Sara) and with no medical training or experience caring for someone with a terminal illness, we were all lost.
The Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge took him in as an in-patient, where he stayed for almost three months. During this time, he received round-the-clock care from the astoundingy compassionate angels (nurses) who worked there. We were (and still are) all given emotional and practical support throughout the ordeal, including counselling, holistic therapies and countless hours of support and care from every member of staff.
I can't imagine how we would have coped without the Sam Beare Hospice, there are no words to do the charity justice and we would love to do our bit by raising some money and giving what we can to help them continue their incredible work.
Zvi loved to hear us sing, so we will sing for him and hope that somewhere he's listening.
I appreciate that it's a bit out of the way for a lot of you, so if you can't be there in person, even a small donation would be really gratefully received.
With love and thanks,
Sara and Yotam
