Singing Together

Live Music Now and The Orders of St John Care Trust are launching a new music project bringing together residents from two care homes in Cheltenham with young children from their local nurseries. Meeting regularly to make music together, we hope that the two groups, young and old, will make lasting friendships, and together will discover new skills and passions.
Studies show that bringing together young children and older people has many benefits for both groups. Sharing activities together gives older people a sense of purpose and enjoyment, whilst for children who may not regularly see their grandparents or great-grandparents, it is a chance to broaden their experience. Both groups can learn or rediscover skills – both social and musical – and enjoy getting to know one another.
We are looking for funding to bring this special project to Windsor Street and Monkscroft Care Centres, and to Treetops and Tinies Nurseries in Cheltenham. Money raised will pay for professional musicians from Live Music Now to lead the sessions.
If we can raise our target of £4000, this will pay for 10 monthly sessions in both homes, making a huge difference to the lives of residents and the children they meet.
