This time last year after spending a week in Swindon Great Western Hospital, my son Hugo was admitted to Paediatric Intensive Care in John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, due to complications from Croup.
As you can imagine, it was extremely traumatic for us wondering if he would pull through, not to mention traumatic for Hugo after all the medical procedures he underwent.
Thankfully one thing we didn't have to worry about was accommodation. Thanks to Ronald McDonald House, we had comfortable accommodation within the hospital and access to a shower and kitchen which was a godsend as we were so far away from home. But crucially, we were close to Hugo's ward.
Thankfully Hugo pulled through after a few days in intensive care and we were able to go home. But for some families, they rely on this accomodation for weeks and sometimes months.
In order to mark the anniversary, Hugo, Matt & I will take on a 10k walk next week on our holiday (hugo will need a buggy for some of it - i'm sure you won't mind!).
Please help us raise £500 (or more) for Ronald McDonald House Charities and any money raised will be matched by my employer (Lloyds Banking Group) up to the value of £500, making your donation go so much further.
I will upload pictures of our walk on return from holiday.
