We work with families who are marginalised because of the many challenges they are facing including poor parental mental health, limited parenting skills and social isolation. We build relationships and walk alongside the family to support them to reach their potential.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may and some may not know, I struggled with post natal depression after having my little boy in 2013. This reached its peak half way through 2014 when I found I was sleeping for around 18 hours a day (and still feeling like I hadn't slept at all), I would cry all the time, couldn't make the simplest of decisions (I once had a full scale meltdown because I couldn't decide which trousers to wear) and I hadn't left the house in months.

I was referred by my health visitors to Home Start, who in turn put me on their "Mums in Mind" course of group sessions. It sounded like everything I didn't want to do - firstly leaving the house before lunch, and secondly sitting with a bunch of sobbing strangers talking about our feelings.

Little did I know that those strangers would become my friends, something I've always struggled with, and that I would start to look forward to the weekly meetings, knowing that Rex was having a great time in the crèche finally being able to mix with other children. I felt a bit lost when the course came to an end and now live in an area without a MIMS scheme, so I'd like to see more available in other areas.

Anyone who knows me knows I hate exercise so this is going to be a massive challenge for me, so dig deep if not for a really good cause then purely for the photos that will eventually surface of me in a world of pain!
