Story

I will be completing the North Devon Half Marathon on 26th June 2022 in memory of my Mum Christine, who was cared for by North Devon Hospice in the final weeks of her life. The event also happens to be on what would be her 60th birthday.

12 months after her initial cancer diagnosis, and following a strong fight, Mum went on to spend 10 weeks as a patient on the bedded unit at North Devon Hospice due to her complex end of life care needs. She passed away peacefully at the Hospice on Saturday 8th January 2022.

During her time at the Hospice the staff worked endlessly to ensure so many wonderful experiences and memories were made for Mum and our family, ranging from an alpaca visit to a pamper session,  tea parties and Christmas dinner.

Nothing will ever be able to repay what North Devon Hospice did for my Mum, but hopefully by undertaking this challenge and raising some funds I can give a little something back.

Oh, and to add to the challenge I have only been running 12 months and rarely run further than 3.1 miles - only 10 more to do... wish me luck!
