SimplyHealth Great North Run 2018 · 9 September 2018 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the GNR in September for St Basils. They are a charity who help homeless young people and from personal experience, I can honestly say they do an amazing job. Due to very difficult personal circumstances, I found myself in need of their help when I was 16. They were non judgemental and provided me with temporary accomodation. Throughout my short stay, they supported me to help build a new life for myself. The team were always there to offer a hand or ear with personal issues, my wellbeing and finding a home for me to begin my new journey. It didn't end there, they were always available to offer help and support when I left. That was 32 years ago. I am proud to say today I have grown tremendously and have my own happy ever after. Two years ago, I started C25K in Droitwich with the DAC and have progressed to running longer distances. It is my belief that a run is not a race against the clock, more of an opportunity to challenge yourself to see what is possible. I'm in training for the GNR and although I won a ballot place, I see this as an opportunity to raise some money for a worthwhile charity. They gave me so much and I hope to give them something back in return.
Therefore, I'm asking you for your help. A donation, no mattter how big or small, towards St Basils would be greatly appreciated. They help over 5,000 young people a year to build a brighter future. I'm happy to say, I was one of them. Thank you for reading my story.
