Thanks for visiting our page. I have been a Nurse now for 21 years , 17 of those as a cardiac nurse, and I know only to well the effect that heart disease can have on individuals & families.
I now work in cardiac rehab and am aware that the BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK, and these patients can then go on to lead long fulfilled lives with the right advice, support, guidance, & education. But this takes trained staff, local services, educational resources and this comes at a cost. My first Rehab position as a Nurse was funded entirely by the BHF for a local hospital, then encouraging the local trust to take over the cost of these roles once they had proved their worth.
I feel blessed to work in this line of work trying every day to make that little difference to patients living with heart disease, but I now feel it is time to contribute to the extortionate cost of the resources.
I have always thought id like to one day say I've done a skydive, but have to admit that I will be petrified, so didn't fancy going it alone. That's where my lovely sister comes in, not only offering to support me but in also believing in the amazing work of the BHF. Therefore we will be jumping on the same day, set for May 4th at Langer Airfield 2019.
Unfortunately hundreds of people still lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist.
This is why we're raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and we'd be so grateful for your support.
Every pound helps so please give what you can to help us hit our target. Thank you
Julie Hughes & Debra Wardle xx
