The Mind Walk 2020 · 17 October 2020 ·
As many of you are aware through being my friend or following my blog page, I have suffered personally over the years with an anxiety disorder. I have spent thousands of pounds on various treatments for myself because there simply just isn’t the availability quick enough on our amazing NHS. Some of the waiting times are more than 12 months. Anyone who has suffered with a mental health condition or witnessed a loved one struggle would categorically agree how vital it is to get treatment and help before 12 months. I wouldn’t like to think how unwell I would have got if I hadn’t have sought help within the first month.
I am taking part in The Mind Walk 2020 which is an event in London; we will all be walking proudly and each step will be raising money to support those suffering with mental illness.
Mind is an incredibly charity who strive to better peoples understanding about mental health and teach everyone the fact that this can happen to any one of us and it’s okay to reach out and ask for help.
Society has worked so hard to make mental health a talking point in recent years and this has worked. I am so grateful that it is becoming more ‘accepted’ and recognised. However, we now need action.
Talking is a vital first step. But action saves lives too. Some people need more help than a listening ear and our mental health services are crippling under the weight of people in real crisis. And a lack of funds to make a true difference in time.
I ask all of you: please donate anything you can. £0.50p, £1, £5; it all makes a difference.
You guys know me, and I’m sure that you know of at least one more person who has struggled with their mental health. Whether that be anxiety, depression, bipolar, postnatal depression, OCD etc. And we need your help to ensure lives aren’t being needlessly lost down to lack of funding. We have worked so hard to build upon the understanding; now let’s make our actions save lives.
