As with all charities, as a result of Covid-19, we have missed many fundraising opportunities and scheduled events. This campaign, without apology, is to raise the funds we require to keep our daily needs met - not for any one specific thing.

Story

Beyond Ourselves was initiated by Stephen James BMW over 10 years ago and Stephen James continues to support the work of the charity in Zambia in any creative ways they can.

Our latest fundraiser:  Starting with Paul Bygrave who wanted to lose weight, momentum has gathered and we have the following candidates!

Meet the SJ Weight Warriors!

Paul Bygrave, our Aftersales Manager in Woolwich
Lose 5 stone in 6 months.
Starting weight:  21 stone.  Waists 51 inches.

Ken Uzor, Business Manager in Bromley
Lose 2 stone in 6 months

Ken White, Parts Advisor in Woolwich
Lose 5 stone in 6 months

Mintie, HR Advisor in Central Functions
Lose 5 stone in 6 months

These warriors will be weighed monthly, and we will post updates of their progress here.  Please sponsor them - it will be such an encouragement to them and Beyond Ourselves will also be delighted to receive your support.

During this pandemic, the schools we partner with in Zambia closed and, in accordance with the government regulations, the feeding programmes stopped as well. Even though the schools were shut we continued to contribute to all staff salaries at our partner schools at this time as we are aware how desperate many of their home situations would be without this much needed income. We have also continued to mentor teachers during this time via video and WhatsApp.   However, with the absence of our regular UK school and business fundraising and the cancelled marathons and bike rides, we have an obvious gap in our budget to cover the school staff salaries. We are asking that you would partner with us to "bridge the gap'".We know everyone's financial situation is different, but for those of you who have found that during this time you have saved money on your commute and after work socialising(!), we'd be very grateful if you would consider sending us a donation.
