The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £5m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Repeating our sterling effort last year, the Skanska Civils Business Development team (and guests) will be entering a charity mud run to raise funds on behalf of St Francis Hospice in Berkhamstead.

The team of 12 who entered last year had such good fun that we would like to invite you to come and join or sponsor us.

We will be undertaking a run over a 5 mile VERY muddy assault course in the grounds of Ashridge house on the 23rd October. The course is jam-packed with obstacles and guaranteed to be very muddy and wet, with some exciting challenges to tackle along the way, including the Mega Muddy Mound, the Soggy Slippery Slope and the fun-filled Squirt Zone (where spectators get the chance to hose down the competitors).

Of course the serious side of the event is the fund-raising. - The hospice aims to bring peace, comfort and dignity to patients and families facing serious illness. They offer assessment and skilled clinical care, home and bereavement support.

All their care is free but it costs £4.7 Million to run their services each year. They only receive 20% of this from the NHS each year and need to raise £3,760,000 to carry on.

Last year our team was a top 10% fund raiser with a total of £1,267 and we hope to beat that this year by raising a target of £2,000.
