Duston Triathlon · 7 February 2009

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

In preparation for the ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ in June, where I will attempt to climb Mount Scafell, Mount Snowdon, and Ben Nevis within the space of 24 hours, I have crazily agreed to take part in the Duston Triathlon this April.

The triathlon consists of a 400m swim, 20k bike ride and finally a 5k run (or jog, or walk, or crawl).. Many of the competitors in this event will be taking part within a team and will complete an individual leg of the triathlon.. I have decided to go SOLO, so therefore please do not expect me to finish in the top ten!!!! J

I will be competing in both the ‘Three peak challenge’ and the ‘Triathlon’ to raise money for MacMillan cancer support. Over the last few years, but more so recently, I have lost some very close family and friends to cancer, and I would therefore like to raise as much money as I possibly can to support this wonderful charity..

I will be taking part in the memory of Kathy Searle, a very special aunt of mine that I recently lost to cancer late in 2008, Linda Toal, the mother of a close friend of mine who died more recently, and Susan Dale a close friend that we lost in June 2006..

I would gratefully appreciate any donation you could make, no matter how big or small this may be.. If I am honest, I am not currently at the height of physical fitness, however I can cast iron guarantee you that I will drag my sorry ar$e across the finish line if it kills me!! J

Thanks for your support

Simon
