The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity who creates, protects and cares for woodland across the UK. We are working hard to create a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. But we can't do this alone. We can't achieve our vision without you.

Story

A huge thankyou to everyone who donated and who took part in skisfortrees! It was a brilliant day and we were so pleased thst so many lovely gym members were up for trying something new on the skierg machine and for getting involved at no notice, what a nice bunch of people train at seaton gym!
The combined donations are currently at a total of £160.00 for The Woodland Trust. This is an amazing achievement and we have gone some way to planting much needed trees for the UK. It feels really good to take positive action in this way. Thankyou!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Barney (manager) and Tess (Gym instructor) will be on the Skierg machine from 6.30 am - 9.30 pm on Monday 6th of Jan. Please do donate via this page because the money goes direct to The Woodland Trust so they can plant trees yey!

Catch our live updates on Instagram Skiesfortrees and the Led seaton facebook page. Be part of the action by joining us on a second Skierg on the day. Come help us our, have a laugh and even help out on the second skierg.

The Skierg machine is a brilliant but tough workout, its a bit like an upright rowing machine. It hits triceps, Abs,  Glutes, quads bit of lattisimus dorsi.  It's a one stop body sculpting machine!

We estimate that the electricity used to power the gym and staff driving to work means we could be producing over 1000 metric tons of Co2 per year!!

We want to take positive action to offset our carbon footprint by planting trees. More trees are the most effective way to manage the carbon emissions crisis and so we've chosen The amazing Woodland Trust charity to raise money for. The Woodland Trust plant 1000s of trees each year and they conserve and protect existing woodland. Go Woodland Trust!

We are really looking forward to the challenge but it will be no walk in the park and we have been (slightly variably) hard at work training for several months. We will be right out of our comfort zones for this endurance, cardio and strength event, so it will take hard work and determination. There is no getting away from it folks, although it will be fun it will also probably hurt, quite a lot.

Gym members feel free to come down and show your support in person on the day and / or we would be especially thankful if you choose to donate here to show your support.

Now for some facts about Trees!

They are:

- The longest living organisms on the planet.

Trees:

- Keep our air clean. One tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year or,  one ton of carbon dioxide by the time it reaches 40 years old.

- Improve water quality

- Reduce noise pollution

- Help prevent erosion

- Provide food and building materials

- Provide shade and create beautiful landscapes.

Reasons to plant trees

- If we reduce carbon emissions we reduce pollution. Conservative estimates state that this could avoid:

- A climate crises in terms of rising temperatures and all the associated problems.

- Estimated 64,000 premature deaths per year (including infants)  related to air pollution and the associated health problems.

And finally ....

We invite other organisations to try a challenge to raise money to plant trees too! Anyone can do it. Just pick and challenge and get fundraising.

Word of advice: Pick something easier than a 15 hour Skierg challenge! ;-)
