Story
Thanks for visiting,
My name is Siobhan Meade, a 29 year old blind woman from Norfolk and Hertfordshire.
At 16 I lost the little bit of sight I had, literally gone in the blink of an eye. I lost everything... at least that's how it felt... but in 2003 I trained with my first beautiful guide dog Liza (Jan 2001 - May 2013 in loving memory).
She, and my current guide dog Mac changed my life in ways no words could be so powerful as to describe. I want others to realize the freedom and independence a guide dog, or other mobility services delivered by the association can deliver. Will you please help?
I have set a modest fundraising target of £2,000 to make a real difference to guide dogs, a charity that receives no government funding whatsoever for the dog service and who's contribution to the visually impaired community is too often undervalued.
If we manage to smash the modest £2,000 fundraising target, it would be my happiest pleasure to achieve £5,000 so that I could name a puppy - and that puppy's name would be Liza.
Please leap as far in to your wallets and purses as I intend to leap in to the skies.
