Sky Dive for Kidney Care UK · 5 October 2019
Hey everyone! I have been a Dialysis Nurse for over 6 years now. I work in Harlow Satellite Unit under the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. We are looking after 90 patients in our unit with Chronic Kidney Disease — a long-term condition in which the kidneys no longer work as they should. Our kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from our blood, which are then excreted in our urine. When chronic kidney disease reaches an advanced stage, dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes and wastes can build up in our body. This then requires our patients to have their blood cleaned and have extra fluid removed three times weekly through haemodialysis.
Every single day, 21 people in the UK develop kidney failure and we, as health care providers involved in direct patient care understand the many challenges of our patients living with Kidney Disease. Together, we can all make a difference. Your support is greatly appreciated! 🙂
